Our First Street Rod Nationals

My belief is, that there are two purposes to owning a hotrod – driving it and showing it off, in car shows.  Now I love my chev and if I didn’t there wouldn’t be any point to owning her, but put her in the show grounds with cars that cost $100,00+ to build and she isn’t going to be winning any prizes –  Sxc37 was built in a kiwi blokes’ garage, in his spare time, with the help of his mates, using parts that fitted to do the job.  But when I found out the 2010 Street Rod Nationals where being held in Blenheim, I signed and sent away the registration forms as soon as they came out.  Oh the excitement of entering you own car in a show, rather than just going and viewing everyone elses beautiful beasts.

An early morning start and we were on our way to Blenheim, with a short photo shoot stop in Kaikora.

Arriving in Blenheim and it was like the town had been invaded by another era.  Hot rods, street machines, muscle cars and cool cruisers crept up the streets – there is no blending in with the modern cars with all the gleaming chrome and shining array of bright-colored bodies.  All I could was  smile, knowing I was part of it all.

Show day arrived and by the afternoon, so had the clouds and cold wind, but that didn’t stop everyone having a great time.
